This is a circa 1800s Victorian set of wire rimmed eyeglasses in silver, includes original leather case stamped in gold leaf "DR. GEO. B. WISDEL, OPTOMETRIST, 127 So. Limestone Street, SPRINGFIELD, OHIO". Overall, this pair is in great condition. The lenses have sustained some clouding over time. The original case is in good condition for its age; although the brown leather has worn away in some spots. The interior burgundy velvet lining shows only minimal wear.
Overall dimensions are 4 1/4 inches across and 1 5/8 inches in height. The case measures 4 5/8 inches wide by 1 3/4 inches high by 1/2 inch thick closed.
This beautiful pair of antique eyeglasses would make a stunning addition to someone's collection of Victorian era items, or a great pair to have fitted with your own prescription lenses.
